Unlike the standard and easy-to-read font, we deliberately used an unconventional approach to design this font. We have replaced some of the strokes of the orthographic characters with Wu spelling letters and given the font a sense of space with different thicknesses of strokes, reducing the recognition of the orthographic characters and highlighting the Wu spelling, so as to promote the viewer's practice of spelling the Hangzhou dialect, reshape the viewer's perception of the dialect and the font, and break the viewer's silent impression of the font. As the saying goes, "Seeing the words is just like meeting the person, even the sound is clear".
Our design includes
1. 112 orthographic characters and their 46 groups of words.
2. Auxiliary graphics with orthographic elements.
3. A dynamic video of the typeface.
4. an augmented reality display of the typeface.
In order to make the dialect accessible in a more interesting way, we have combined modern design tools to create dynamic effects of the fonts. The tones of the orthography are marked with the widely used five-degree marking method. We have analysed these numerical suffixes to visualise the particular rhythms of dialect pronunciation into the typeface dynamics. We also explored the diversity of application scenarios by presenting augmented reality to demonstrate the three-dimensional sense of space brought by this typeface.">
